I am such a geek.
I am such a geek, clearly, because I’d so buy this if I had the money.
It does remind me of something I forgot to mention earlier, though.
In EGM, I believe, they gave a “minus” to the Wii because it requires some sort of purchase to be able to play DVDs.
Who. The. Fuck. Cares?
I mean, I sort of see the point. Sort of. Except I already have a DVD player. I think most everyone I know except my in-laws do. It’s old-hat. I don’t want to pay more for redundancy.
I didn’t care that XBox didn’t, either. The only reason I cared that PS2 did was because it was the cheapest player on the market at the time.
Then again, maybe there’s something to this. As such, I give all systems demerits on account of the fact that I’ve a million VHS tapes around here, my VCR is worn out, and neither Nintendo, nor Sony, nor Microsoft, nor SEGA are helping the fucking situation.
What if I want to watch an old episode of Married… With Children that I taped? Huh? What then?
Anyway, back to Planet Earth, I really don’t give a shit that my game systems don’t tend to play movies, except maybe for the new format stuff, and even then… meh. 360 has an extra piece for like, what, a hundred bucks? …that allows it to play HD-DVD movies. PS3 has Blu-Ray built in. Good for Sony, because like with DVDs and the PS2, no one owns that shit yet.
I dunno, for tech that’s been around for years that damn near everyone has already, movieless-Wii just doesn’t concern me. Like I said, it’s redundant.
Hell, penalize them for not picking a side. HD War: Whose Side Are You On?
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go jury-rig some Betamax on a Colecovision…
