Review Round-Up – 9/22/13
Hmm, it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, hasn’t it? And for good reason: In the intervening time, I’ve been sick, gone to Otakon, gone to the beach, and when I haven’t been otherwise preoccupied, pickings have been slim, particularly on the work front, though that may be changing soon. Still, here’s what I’ve got.
From Mario’s Hat:
New Super Luigi U – In some ways, this downloadable content could be seen as even better than the game it was made for.
New StreetPass Games for Nintendo 3DS – These four games are all extremely charming in different ways.
Game & Wario – In some ways, this was not quite what I was expecting.
From Gamezebo:
Sprinkle Islands – Is the second time the charm? Eh… maybe not so much.
Pacific Rim – Fresh movie experience, stale gaming experience.
An Alien With a Magnet – While this magnet-physics game is fairly attractive, a few elements also repel.
Kid Tripp – A hardcore retro challenge at its finest.
Swift Revenge – It’s a loooooooong way down.
Asphalt 8: Airborne – The key to victory is to kick some serious asphalt.
BRAVOMAN: Binja Bash! – Can Bravoman overcome nefarious forces that are seeking to reach into his wallet? (Note: Namco Bandai are releasing some updates which might address some of the problems I have with this game, so I’ll be giving it another look-see soon. And I sure hope they get it right, because Bravoman deserves it.)
Joust Legend – No ostriches allowed.
From Slide to Play:
Diner Dash Rush – Same style of gameplay as the original, but at a speedier, more puzzle game-like pace.
Perfection – Not quite perfect, but simple and effective.
Ultima: Quest for the Avatar – This multiplayer RPG is hot in more ways than one.
As always, you can keep up with my Slide to Play reviews here, my Gamezebo reviews here, my HonestGamers reviews here, and my Mario’s Hat reviews here. You can also catch some of my other reviews in Nintendo Force magazine, which is something I still need to address here on this site.
