Xbox’s New Pulse Red Controller Looks *Really* Canadian
This week, Xbox announced that they would be releasing a new fourth color to its lineup of wireless Xbox controllers, Pulse Red. Joining its Carbon Black, Robot White, and Shock Blue compatriots, it follows the same Series X|S design with all that entails, most notably the dedicated Share button.
At first glance, it doesn’t stand apart too much from the rest — it’s a pretty red controller with black detailing. But when you flip it over, that’s another story.
The white breaks things up in a way that seems very, very Canadian. Heck, it’s practically the Canadian flag in controller form. The only thing missing is a maple leaf — something someone added in a response to the Xbox Canada Twitter post announcing it:

Still, there’s something about it… the black. The black in particular reminds me of something else, but what…?
Oh yeah, I guess that would do it. Black seems to be a common enough companion to red and white in various logos, and these are all still pretty Canadian.
The Pulse Red Xbox Wireless Controller will be available on February 9th for $74.99 CAD, but if you live in the States, you can pick one up for a cool $64.99 USD (ProTip: Wouldn’t advise importing to try to save money, unless you can combine it with something else — shipping and import charges are outrageous), and it should be available “in most Xbox markets” as well. Or, if you’re flush with cash and can’t wait less than a month, it should already be available now in China.
This device works with both the new Xbox Series X|S models, as well as the Xbox One line, Win10 PCs, and Android devices. So if you’re like me and haven’t gotten your hands on the next generation yet, at least you can have a piece of it right in the palm of your hand.
