Nadia & David Ruin Video Games – Donkey Kong Country (Part 1)

After our Bananza in Ingot Isle, we're going back to the old Country!

It must be said: Donkey Kong Bananza is a great game. We quite enjoyed our time with it, which goes well beyond our last stream.

In fact, it was so good, it also made us nostalgic. We wanted to go back to the Country — Donkey Kong Country, that is. And I don’t mean Returns or Tropical Freeze, as great as those are. Nah, we’re talking 1994, promotional VHS tapes, and CRT filters — all the good stuff that you love.

So join us, won’t you?

For not having played it in quite some time (bar a test run of the first two stages last night to see if we wanted to use the Switch 2 or the Super NES Classic Edition), we actually didn’t do too bad! In fact, we did well enough that we’re considering finishing the job in an upcoming episode. Ah, but Little Kitty, Big City is getting an update soon, and I’ve also been wanting to get Nadia to try the 2014 Strider reboot. Sonic Racing: Crossworlds and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance might be soon on the docket, too. Not to mention getting back to Mega Man 8, as well.

So many choices, so little time.

Also, I mentioned it last week, but brought it up again in this episode: If you’re interested in how Donkey Kong was the “Unsung Hero of the 16-Bit Wars,” then just click right here.

Next time we come at you, probably in about two weeks, it’s probably “Mega Man Mayhem” time again with Mega Man 8. Unless we don’t. We won’t know for sure until we know… for sure.

To keep abreast of new and upcoming livestreams, we usually announce them about a day ahead of time on Twitter and Bluesky!

You can find our past livestreams over on the Nyteworks YouTube channel, where we’ve played all sorts of things, ranging from numerous episodes of Super Mario RPG for Nintendo Switch to Sonic x Shadow Generations (including the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie DLC), Little Kitty, Big City, Contra: Operation Galuga, our annual Castlevania marathons, and so, so much more!

Plus, all our Mega Man-related streams can be found on The Mega Man Network’s YouTube channel!

If you like what we’re doing, please consider chipping in a few bucks our way on Patreon, Ko-fi, or even just something via PayPal. Maybe then we can do something about our current seating situation, and get something that allows Nadia to play longer and/or more frequently! Every little bit helps!
