AEW Magazine for April 5, 2021
For our “third issue” of “AEW Magazine” (which, if you’re just joining us, is not a real publication, but just something I’ve been mocking up as a sort of fan art in my spare time — see here for more about that), AEW Dynamite for March 31st, 2021 provided two very striking matches with some great moments from which to choose.
First up, we have two variants from the Arcade Anarchy match, mainly from when Orange Cassidy and Kip Sabian were fighting atop a scattering of LEGO blocks that had been spread out just moments prior.
As well as a follow-up spot which nicely showed off the “arcade” sign, which allowed for a little playfulness with the word placement:
Honestly, I had hoped to get a shot of them standing tall at the end of the match, but such a picture was not among those AEW PR passed along to me.
Then there’s the other moment. What started as a simple exhibition match between two friends in QT Marshall and Cody Rhodes turned into a full-blown Nightmare Family revolt. And while this occurred earlier in the match before things broke down, this moment just seemed to encapsulate the story so perfectly:
Wanted to do something a little different with the headline on this one, something in the vein of what you might see on the old WWF or WCW magazines, though I think this probably skews more Apter mag (Pro Wrestling Illustrated, Inside Wrestling, The Wrestler), if I’m being honest.
And Cody, if you somehow wind up seeing this, I’m sorry your first appearance here wasn’t a more flattering one. Hopefully next time!
As before, the “other” stories are basically just a light recap of some of what happened on Dynamite, since I don’t have any actual contents to speak of.
Thanks for reading!
Photographs used for the AEW covers were provided by All Elite Wrestling. Everything else but the barcode and AEW logo (including the “Magazine” logo) was all me.
